DES MOINES – The Iowa Barnstormers have signed veteran defensive back Michael Green to the 2018 roster, Head Coach Dixie Wooten announced today.
Green (6-0, 200, Lenoir-Rhyne) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his fourth season in the Indoor Football League (IFL). Green made his rookie debut in 2015 with the now defunct Billings Wolves, where he finished the season with 114 tackles (2nd in the league), 2 sacks, 7 interceptions (2nd in the league), 4 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, and 159 interception return yards (1st in the league) earning IFL honors as Defensive Rookie of the Year. Green returned to Billings in 2016, completing the season with 10 interceptions (1st in league), 86 total tackles, 7 tackles for loss, 3 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, and 10 pass breakups earning his way to being named First Team All-IFL. Green joined the Wichita Falls Nighthawks roster for the 2017 season, where he appeared in 13 games and led the team with 75 total tackles, 7 tackles for loss, and 6 interceptions.
Collegiately, Green played four years at Lenoir-Rhyne University. Throughout his collegiate career, Green started in a total of 32 games and earned several conference honors including Defensive Player of the Year in his senior season.
