Friday night football will fill the Heartland Events Center, as two of the top teams in the IFL square off to see which one can hold onto first place in the standings.
The Barnstormers and Danger enter the game on similar paths. Both are 3-1 teams with their only loss also coming to a 3-1 team in the league. Iowa fell to Sioux Falls a few weeks ago, but beat an Arizona team who in turn has beaten Sioux Falls and the Danger. The Danger's three wins on the year, however, come against the league's two worst teams – Cedar Rapids and Green Bay – who have combined for a 1-9 start to the year.
Danger fans will also see a few familiar faces return to Grand Island Friday, as former star Dixie Wooten is the head coach of the Barnstormers and previous Danger head coach, Hurtis Chinn, is now Iowa's Assistant Head Coach / Wide Receivers Coach.
Nebraska will continue to learn its offense under back-up quarterback Jesse Scroggins, who started his first game last week at Arizona after top quarterback, Damien Fleming, suffered a season-ending injury in a win at Cedar Rapids.KR Korey Ringer was named IFL Special Teams Player of the Week after gaining 209 kick return yards, fourth most in league history.
The Danger defense will be looking to rebound quickly after getting gashed for 62 points by the Rattlers this past Saturday, and they'll be trying to stop who many consider the best dual-threat quarterback in the league in Drew Powell. Through four games, he's the league's third-leading passer and leads the league in rushing.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Tickets are available at area Pump & Pantry Stores, the Heartland Events Center Box Office or via Ticketmaster. The game will be broadcast live on 2DayFM 103.1 or streamed live at www.2dayfm1031.com with live video available at DangerFootball.com/Watch.
