Titans at Rattlers Game Preview

Phoenix, Ariz. - The Arizona Rattlers (3-1) will host the Cedar Rapids Titans (1-4) on Saturday, March 31st, at 6:05 p.m. at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona. The Rattlers are coming off a 62-49 victory over the Nebraska Danger (3-1), while the Titans were defeated 59-45 by the Iowa Barnstormers (3-1) in their previous game.

The Rattlers moved up in the standings after defeating Nebraska last week and are now part of a four-way tie for first place along with Iowa, Sioux Falls and Nebraska. The Rattlers will look to keep their momentum going into the bye week as they wrap up a three-game up home stand against Cedar Rapids.

The Rattlers saw an offensive explosion in their win last week, almost doubling their previous scoring average by putting up 62 points. QB Jeff Ziemba threw for 119 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. RB Shadrach Thornton rushed for three touchdowns for the second straight game, and Anthony Amos caught two touchdowns, bringing his season total to six. DL Joshua Gordon was named IFL Defensive Player of the Week after recording an interception, a blocked field goal and a sack.

The Titans' loss to Iowa was a close, high-scoring game that featured QB Jake Medlock with four touchdowns (two pass, two rush) and two rushing touchdowns from RB Tyler Thomas. Cedar Rapids scored first and briefly held a few early leads, but couldn't stop Iowa's offense.

This matchup will feature The Rattlers' top ranked rushing attack led by running backs Shadrach Thornton and Darrell Monroe. The Rattlers average 119 rush yards per game, the best in the IFL, while Cedar Rapids' run defense allows 109 yards per game, which is last in the league.

Cedar Rapids currently has the top passing offense leading the IFL in total yards per game. Quarterback Jake Medlock on top of the league in passing yards per game (194.8), pass touchdowns (16), and rushing touchdowns (7). The Titans will face an Arizona secondary that is ranked second in passing defense, only allowing 115.8 yards per game.
