Storm Pelt Titans 65-48

SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm faced the Cedar Rapids Titans on Saturday, April 21 at the Denny Sanford Premier Center during a week nine contest. The Storm came out on top 65-48 against rival Titans. 

The Storm would take an early 14-0 lead after back to back touchdowns by Lorenzo Brown, first a 36-yard scamper and then a four-yard run. The Titans would get on the board after a four-yard rushing touchdown by Raphael Lawson-Gayle to bring the score to 14-7. The Storm would end the first quarter with a two-yard rushing touchdown by Lyle McCombs and a 21-7 lead. 

The Storm's Lightning Strike Offense would begin the second quarter with a one-yard quarterback keeper by Lorenzo Brown to put them up 28-7. But the Titans answered back with a four-yard touchdown pass from Jake Medlock to Javon Bell, bringing the score to 28-13. The Storm would close out the half with three consecutive scores and a 45-13 lead; first with a 30-yard reception by Karim Jones, next a 30-yard touchdown pass by Lorenzo Brown to Judd Harrold and then 24-yard field goal by Miles Bergner.

The third quarter was a back and forth bout with Cedar Rapids scoring first with a 25-yard Jake Medlock pass to Raphael Lawson-Gayle, putting the score at 45-20. Storm quarterback Lorenzo Brown would connect with Judd Harrold for a 33-yard touchdown, extending the Storm's lead 52-20. The Titans would answer with a Jake Medlock 12-yard touchdown to Connor Hollenbeck to bring the score to 52-27. The Storm would end the quarter with a 36-yard field goal by Miles Bergner and a 55-27 lead. 

Cedar Rapids would strike first in the fourth quarter with a 11-yard rushing touchdown by Raphael Lawson-Gayle to bring the score to 55-34. Sioux Falls would score a 36-yard field goal by Miles Bergner to extend their lead to 58-34. Cedar Rapids would respond with a one-yard Jake Medlock quarterback keeper to cut the lead to 58-41. The Storm would spread the lead to 65-41 after a six-yard sweep by Mike Tatum. Cedar Rapids would end the game with a two-yard touchdown pass from Jake Medlock to Connor Hollenbeck, bringing the final score to 65-48.

Storm quarterback Lorenzo Brown completed eight out of ten passes for 146 yards and three touchdowns and rushed six times for 77 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Lyle McCombs had 13 carries for 51 yards and one touchdown. Wide receivers Judd Harrold tallied two receptions for 63 yards and two touchdowns and Karim Jones had one reception for 30 yards and one touchdown. Storm kicker Miles Bergner was perfect on the night after hitting three out of three field goals and all eight extra points. Defensive backs Jabari Gorman led the team in tackles with ten while J'Vontez Blackmon had three pass break-ups. Defensive lineman Chris Martin had one sack, one one forced fumble and a pass break-up. 

The Sioux Falls Storm face a tough road challenge against the Nebraska Danger next on April 27 at 7:00pm for a week 10 battle.
