Duke City Gladiators - The Duke City Gladiators have announced the hiring of Cornelius "Pig" Brown as team's new Head Coach for the 2020 IFL season.
An IFL Hall of Fame linebacker, Brown joins the Duke City Gladiators after spending the last two seasons as the head coach of the Nebraska Danger.
In 2019, Brown led the Danger to the second round of the Playoffs including an upset win over the Green Bay Blizzard. He was key in developing the Danger as one of the most explosives offenses in the IFL. Under Brown's leadership, QB Tommy Armstrong Jr. was named IFL Rookie of the Year and RB Davonte Sapp-Lynch finished the season ranked third in the league in rushing touchdowns. Prior to being named as the Danger's full-time head coach in 2019, Brown served as an interim co-head coach for the Danger in 2018 and served as the team's Defensive Coordinator/LB/DB coach in prior seasons.
Brown's playing experience includes 2008 Mini Camps with the Kansas City Chiefs and 2009 Green Bay Packers. He has many accomplishments from Defensive
Player of the Year at Reedley College in 2005, to his Induction to the IFL Hall of Fame in 2018. Brown joined the Nebraska Danger in 2012 where he was a standout performer and leader for the Nebraska Danger teams that won three straight Intense Conference Championships (2013-2015).Upon his retirement at the conclusion of the 2015 IFL season, Brown ranked second in IFL history with 540 tackles. He also registered 18.5 sacks and 15 interceptions during his career.
The addition of Brown will bring dynamic changes to the Gladiators' leadership Team and the recruitment process.
